A reflection on the use of cosmetic surgery

Reflections for the day

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

1 Peter 3:3-4

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

What I am in God’s sight is what I am. No more; no less.

St Francis of Assisi

A reflection on the use of cosmetic surgery

Heavenly Father,

Thou art almighty, and thou art most powerful, and we praise thou name for thou power, and we praise thou name for thou mightiness. Thou art Our Heavenly Father who knows all, and thou art Our Heavenly Father who sees all, and thou art Our Heavenly Father who is in possession of all thou facts.

Heavenly Father, thou art the creator of thou world and all that is in thou world, and thou hath created all things known to all of Mankind, and thou hath created all things unseen by all of Mankind. Thou created all of Mankind to be born with a particular appearance, and thou created all of Mankind to be born with a particular shape, and thou created all of Mankind to be born with a particular colour, and thou created all of Mankind to be born with a particular size, and thou hath created all of Mankind to be equal within thou eyes.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that thou loves each and every one of us, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that is all encompassing, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that enables all of Mankind to love thou with all of a heart, and to love thou with all of a soul, and to love thou with all of a mind, and to love thou with all of a strength. We acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by words, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by time, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by energy. We acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that overspills into a relationship, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind enables all of Mankind to love thou neighbour, in thou way that thou Son, our Lord Jesus Christ loves us all.

Heavenly Father, thou sent thou beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, into thou world to die for all of Mankind upon a cross in order to redeem all of Mankind from all sins, and in order to show all of Mankind thou way to thou.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that during thou life of thou Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, that it was revealed that there is a need to focus on thou always, and not on a self.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see in a way that is clear that thou Scriptures teach all of Mankind much about an appearance. We are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to be content with an appearance that thou hath bestowed upon a self. We are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to not have a concern with an appearance that is outward, and thou desire is for all of Mankind to be concerned with a matter that is close to a heart of a self, and to another. We are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to put aside a concern about an appearance that is outward, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to turn to thou always.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time we reflect upon the nature of cosmetic surgery. We are able to see in a way that is clear that much is said in the media about an appearance that is outward, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that much is depicted in the media about an appearance that is outward, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that much is said in the media about cosmetic surgery, and that much is said in the media about a danger that relates to a procedure known as cosmetic surgery. We are able to see in a way that is clear that some are influenced by what is seen in the media, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that what is shown in the media is done to persuade a self to have an appearance that is acceptable. We are able to see in a way that is clear that some are concerned that a look is not acceptable, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that a concern is due, at times, to what is said by another.

Heavenly Father, we ask thou to guide all of Mankind in a life that is led daily, and we ask thou to guide a self to bring to thou presence a worry, and a concern.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time we ask thou to provide a number of opportunities before many to reflect carefully upon a need to be healthy always. We are able to see in a way that is clear that being healthy is desirable for all of Mankind. We are able to see in a way that is clear that for some the need for cosmetic surgery is one that is not necessary.

Heavenly Father, we ask thou to grant a self  the grace to accept with a serenity the things that cannot be changed, and a courage to change the things that should be changed, and a wisdom to distinguish the one from another.

Heavenly Father, we are thankful thou hath created all of Mankind in a way that is loving, in terms of bestowing upon all of Mankind an appearance that is fitting for a self, and we ask thou to guide a self to accept an appearance of a self.

Heavenly Father, we uphold to thouself, Our Heavenly Father, all that hath been spake in thou name of thouself, Our Heavenly Father, and in thou name of thou Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and in thou name of thou Holy Spirit, who lives within Man, and who dwells amongst Man, and who advocates for Man, now and always, for evermore.

Amen.

Loving Father, we know that the only time cosmetic surgery is necessary is when through fire, trauma or cancer, disfigurement needs to be repaired by cosmetic surgery. For vanity’s sake, it is unnecessary and futile since it would seem, that in some cases, it does not last and ageing takes over. Part of our character is demonstrated in the face and people who have had numerous Botox treatment seem to have a frozen mask. Breast enhancement has received a lot of attention through the rupture of the implants and the spread of contents to other parts of the body. The inner self, as quoted above in the letter from Peter is much more deemed to radiate in our facial expressions. Amen
