A reflection on charitable giving (one of several)

Reflections for the day

2 Corinthians 8:3-5

For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.

1 Timothy 6:17-18

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

“Our prayer must not be self-centred. It must arise not only because we feel our own need as a burden we must lay upon God, but also because we are so bound up in love for our fellow men that we feel their need as acutely as our own. To make intercession for men is the most powerful and practical way in which we can express our love for them.”

John Calvin

A reflection on charitable giving (one of several)

Heavenly Father,

Thou art Our Heavenly Father who is loving, and thou art Our Heavenly Father who is compassionate, and thou loves each and every one of us. Thou love for all of Mankind is one that is all encompassing, and thou love for all of Mankind is one that endures, and thou love for all of Mankind is one that is eternal. Thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by words, and thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by time, and thou love for all of Mankind is one that is not bound by energy. We acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that enables all of Mankind to love thou with all of a heart, and to love thou with all of a soul, and to love thou with all of a mind, and to love thou with all of a strength. We acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that over spills into a relationship, and we acknowledge that thou love for all of Mankind is one that allows all of Mankind to love thou neighbour in thou way that thou Son, our Lord Jesus Christ loves us all.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that all things are possible through thou if there is a faith and if there is an understanding of thou, and we acknowledge that a number of events that have occurred in a life of a self have happened for a purpose, and we acknowledge that a number of events that are yet to occur will happen for a purpose. We acknowledge that all things happen in thou time that is of thou good time of thou, Our Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time that we reflect upon the nature of a charitable giving. Many are able to see in a way that is clear that to be charitable means that by an action which can be described as generous, a self is able to help another who can be described as less than fortunate than a self. We are able to see in a way that is clear that to be charitable means that an action may not necessarily be of a nature that is of a giving in a way that is financial, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that an action may be one that is described as helping another.

Heavenly Father, many are able to see in a way that is clear that thou Scriptures teach all of Mankind that there is a need to be charitable to another. We are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to give in a way that is without a reluctance, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to give in a way that is without a compulsion. We are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to give in a way that is done without being seen, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that thou desire is for all of Mankind to give in a way that is done without an acknowledgement by another.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that there are some who are more fortunate than others, and we acknowledge that there are some who are richer than another. Many are able to see in a way that is clear that there are some who are rich in a way that can be described as spiritual, and are rich because thou hath made a provision for a self.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time that we are able to see in a way that is clear that much has been said in the media about a charitable giving, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that much has been said in the media about some who are appointed as a collector of money for a charity.

Heavenly Father, we ask thou to guide all of Mankind in a life that is led daily, and we ask thou to guide a self to reflect carefully upon a giving that is one that is of a nature that is charitable. We ask thou to guide a self to give freely of time, and we ask thou to guide a self to give freely in money, and we ask thou to guide a self to come to terms with those times when a pressure is felt to give of a time, and we ask thou to guide a self to come to terms with those times when a pressure is felt to give of money.

Heavenly Father, we are thankful to all who give generously despite a situation. We hope and we pray that many will continue to give at this time, and at a time in the future.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see in a way that is clear that a charitable giving is one that should come from a heart, and we are able to see in a way that is clear that by a charitable giving a self is giving to thou. We ask thou to guide a self to give with what can be described as a heart that is glad, and we ask thou to guide a self to give of a time in a way that is free, and to give of money in a way that is not constrained, and we ask thou to guide all of Mankind to love thou neighbour, in thou way that thou Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ loves us all.

Heavenly Father, we uphold to thouself, Our Heavenly Father, all that hath been spake in thou name of thouself, Our Heavenly Father, who together with thou Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and with thou Holy Spirit, reigns on most high, and is, and was, and will always be, the most supreme, and the most absolute power and being, that governs over all who are of thou world that we live in, now and always, for evermore.

Amen

Loving Father, we ask that those funds, that are generously given to charities, is spent wisely and does not go into the coffers of greedy politicians as has happened in some countries. Where pure water is needed to help the population, may the money that is raised go towards providing wells that are free from harmful bacteria. Amen
