A reflection on Church (its conformity)

Reflections for the day

1 Corinthians 3:11

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:7

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

The base trunk is our relationship with the Lord. Everything above it, all the branches, leaves and fruit rest in this relationship. It is out of our relationship with God that every kind of prayer comes forth. It is interesting that Jesus spoke of his relationship with his followers in similar terms. He said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

A reflection on Church (its conformity)

Our Heavenly Father,

Thou art a loving Father and thou art a compassionate Father and thou loves each and every one of us and thou love for us is one that is all encompassing, and thou love for us is one that is not bound by words, is one that is not bound by time and is one that is not bound by energy. Thou love is one that enables us to love thou with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind and with all our strength. Thou love for us is one that overspills into our relationships and thou love for us is one that enables us to love our neighbour.

Heavenly Father, thou have created the world that we live in and thou have created all things known to Man and all things unseen by Man. Thou art an all-seeing Father and thou art an all knowing Father, and thou art in possession of all the facts.

Heavenly Father, thou art a loving Father and thou art a compassionate Father, and thou have sent into the world thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in order to save us from all our sins. Thou art almighty and thou art most powerful, and thou art our great redeemer, and thou sent thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ into the world to show us the way to thou.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time we desire to reflect upon the nature of Church and it is at this time we desire to reflect upon the conformity of Church. We are able to see that Church means many things to some, and we are able to see that Church means one or two things to some, and we are able to see that Church means little to some, and we are able to see that Church for some is ineffectual.

Heavenly Father, there are many of us who desire to emulate the Church that was established following the ascension of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and there are many of us who desire that the Church is one that is followed, and there are many of us who desire that the Church is one that is meaningful, and there are many of us who desire that the Church is one that is sacred.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see that the Church is one where we can worship thou, and we are able to see that the Church is one where we can pray to thou, and we are able to see that the Church is one where thy Holy Spirit is moving and we are able to see that the Church is one where its people are nourished in a way that is described as spiritual.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see that thy Church is people and we are able to see that thou have brought together thou people for a purpose and we are able to see that thou purpose is for thou people to draw closer to thou and we are able to see that by drawing closer to thou, thy glory is one that is evident.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see that Church is a gathering of thy people and we are able to see that Church is a scattering of thy people, and this scattering of people is one that enables many to be thy witness and this scattering is one that is seen in our everyday lives.

Heavenly Father, it is at this time we pray for thy Church and we ask thou to help many to draw closer to thou, and we ask thou to help many to be thou witness, and we ask thou to help many to emulate the life of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that thy Church is one that will remain constant, and we hope and pray that thy Church is one that will remain loyal to thy teachings, and we hope and pray that many will turn to thou.

Heavenly Father, we ask thou to accept these words in the name of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us to save us from all our sins and to show us the way to thou, and in the name of thy Holy Spirit, who lives with us, who dwells amongst us and who advocates for us, now and always.

Amen.

    Heavenly Father,
We are aware that the local church has been at the heart of the community for generations. However, nowadays it has become less so. May we be enabled to attract more to come into thy churches particularly at this time of celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of our Queen. She has been staunch in her faith and dedication to serving the Commonwealth and is such a good example to us all. Amen.
