A reflection on conquering evil

Reflections for the day

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

John 14:30-31

I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayer-less religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.

Samuel Chadwick

No one is a firmer believer in the power of prayer than the devil; not that he practices it, but he suffers from it.

Guy H. King

A reflection on conquering evil

Our Heavenly Father,

Thou art a loving Father and thou art a Holy Father. We acknowledge thou sent thy only Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, into this world to save us from all our sins. We acknowledge that thy Scriptures teach us that much of the ministry of Our Lord Jesus Christ was one which can be described as a conflict with evil and we acknowledge that thy Scriptures teach us that the death of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, was one that glorified thy name and was one that overcame evil.

It is at this time that we reflect upon the nature of evil. We are able to see that there are some of us who doubt the existence of an evil that can be described as personal and there are some of us who doubt the existence of an evil that can be described as malignant. We are able to see that there are some of us who believe that good and there are some of us who believe that evil are states that can be described as impersonal.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see that thy Scriptures teach us that thou art of all that is holy and we are able to see that thy Scriptures teach us that Satan is the personification of all that is evil. We acknowledge that thy Scriptures reveal what can be described as a conflict between heaven and hell. We are able to see that much of what happens in our world can be described as good and that some of what happens in our world can be described as evil. Many of us are able to see that there is what can be described as a conflict between good and evil. Many of us desire for good to overcome evil.

Heavenly Father, we are able to see that we can overcome evil if we turn to thou. We acknowledge that through our faith in thou we are able to see that the death of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, is one that can be described as a victory over evil and that thou desire is for us as followers of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to announce His victory over evil. Heavenly Father, it is at this time, we ask thou to guide us in our daily life and we ask thou to help us to turn our back on all that is evil and turn to thou, always. We ask thou to guide us as we witness thy Scripture to others and help us to show others the way to thou, always.

Heavenly Father, there are many of us who are able to see that there are times when it is difficult for us to uphold thou and there are times when it is difficult for us to witness thy Scripture. We acknowledge that some of these times are ones that can be described as a conflict and that this conflict is one that can often be described as one that is against evil. We acknowledge that there are times when we need to be strong in our faith of thou and we acknowledge that there are times when we need to be steadfast in our faith of thou. We are able to see that thy Scriptures teach us that we can be protected from all that is evil and that the protection we are able to use is the cross and that the cross and the resurrection of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, are ones that are powerful.

We are able to see that thy Scriptures teach us that thy divine truth is one that brings light to our world and the light is one that will overcome all that is dark.

We are able to see that thy Scriptures teach us that there is a protection for us against evil when we pray and that when prayer is said in the name of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, it is powerful.

Heavenly Father, we hope and pray that Mankind will turn his back on evil, we hope and pray that many will turn to thou and we hope and pray that good will overcome evil. Heavenly Father, we ask all of this in the name of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us to save us from all our sins and to show us the way to thou, and in the name of thy Holy Spirit, who lives amongst us and dwells amongst us, now and always.

Amen.

Our Father, it is with some concern that we learn that young children are being influenced by pornography on the internet and that it is affecting them mentally, often unbeknown to their parents. This is one aspect of evil which needs to be tackled by the internet providers so that their childhood might be normal We pray that thou will guide them to make wise decisions. Amen.

    • We hope and pray that Man will reflect carefully upon the access that our children have to the internet and will ensure that our children are safeguarded from what an influence that can be described as evil. We hope and pray that Man will see the error of his ways, say sorry for them and make the changes in his life which will enable him to draw closer to Our Heavenly Father.
